Binyamin Netanyahu could not have sent a clearer message to those who claim Jewish Settlements in Judea (let me say that slowly…JEWdia) and Samaria are an obstacle to peace.
There is a saying in Judaism; ‘A fence around wisdom is silence’. In other words, there are times that one should keep quiet rather than respond, since their response will only make them look worse off. The US State department reacted to Netanyahu’s speech and instead of explaining why they are advocating and claiming that Jews living in Judea and Samaria are an obstacle to peace, they repeated it.
US State Dept. spokeswoman, Elizabeth Trudeau , had this to say: “We obviously strongly disagree with the characterization that those who oppose settlement activity or view it as an obstacle to peace are somehow calling for ethnic cleansing of Jews from the West Bank,” Trudeau said. “We believe that using that type of terminology is inappropriate and unhelpful.”
I missed the part where she explains how she justifies the statement that Jews living in Judea are an obstacle to peace. Just in case you were wondering, this took place during the Obama administration. Any questions?
Are Jewish settlements in Judea an obstacle to peace?
